On the Easel

Here is an update of what I have been working on.  The large painting is the one I am concentrating on the most.  The bottom left is a painting of my Godfather Eugene and is being done in gouache.  The one to the right is of my sister Bernadette and is being done in oil.  

Oil Painting - Bozidar

This is a painting I am currently working on.  I want to try to finish this prior to Mid October.  This marks the one year passing of this influential man in my life.  I will do my best to finish, considering the size of this portrait.

My mother

This is a painting of my mom.  It depicts a moment in time where she as a young child would rely on her imagination to keep herself entertained.  These little playful beings would often perform for her as if to simulate a circus atmosphere, much to the pleasure of the little girl, my mom.  Love you mom.

This Painting was done a few years back.  A bit of a departure from my interests at the time.  I came across it today and decided to post it.  Done in Acrylic.

Just a quick update to assure you that I am doing some painting.  I have a few more on the go but these two are the ones I would like to finish soon.  The one to the left is done in casein and is my first attempt at the medium.  I am painting on 140 cold press watercolour paper.  The next is a larger oil painting (5' tall) and is a theme I have ongoing in my mind.  Hopefully these two will be done in the near future.

Bozidar Acrylic Painting

Here is a 16" x 10" Acrylic painting. I finally decided it was time to finish it. I consider it my first serious attempt at an Acrylic Portrait.

Work In Progress

Just wanted to keep this blog active. It's been some time since I have added any work. These are a couple of Acrylic Paintings I have been working on. I haven't used acrylic often but I wanted to explore the medium more in depth. In the past I had given up on acrylic and always ended up painting oil over it, but this time I have decided to stick it out and not give up. I will post the finished paintings soon.

Here is a painting I just finished. Once i figure out the Title I can comment a bit more on this. All I can say this is oil on canvas measuring 20" X 24" and it was fun to do.

Lennox and Vivian

Finished this painting of my nephew Lennox and his mom (my Sister Vivian) a couple years ago. I've been meaning to give it to my sister and nephew, however I keep thinking I want to display it somewhere prior to handing it over to them.

These are a couple of paintings I did about 5 or 6 years ago.  Both are done in oil and I still have them in my possession.  I need to get frames for them so I can hang them.  They both have classical renaissance elements in them.  I'll leave that to the viewer to spot them.

Here are a couple paintings I've done of my good friend Bozidar.  The first one was done about 5 years ago and was a learning experience as it was one of the first portraits in oil I had attempted.  The painting to the right was another learning experience.  I went into this painting with an intention to paint in a much looser style.

I just wanted to update this post. I am very happy to say this painting was 1 of 30 chosen by The Kingston Prize, Canada's National Portrait Competition as a finalist in this years (2009) Portrait Competition. These Portraits will be exhibited at the Grand Theatre in Kingston, Ontario from October 9 - 25th, after which they will embark on a National Tour lasting several months.

The Winning Painting will be announced at the Gala Preview at the Grand Theatre in Kingston, on October 8, 2009

Here is a painting of my parents. I am so happy that I finally was able to complete this after 2 years of working on it off and on. I presented it to them when i went to visit them on my vacation this past summer.
